As well as supplying a whole range of conventional vegetables, Watts Farms have also been supplying the organic market since 2004.
"The decision to add organic produce to our offer was driven by demand," according to Watts Farms director Joe Cottingham. "It grew steadily year on year until the financial crash in 2007 we then had 10 years of declining sales as demand reduced, but in the last couple of years we have seen an increase in demand."
Organic sales make up around 10% of Watts Farm's turnover.
"The most popular organic products are spinach, green beans, green kale and one of the up and coming products is herbs."
At the moment the company only supplies its organic produce to retail customers.
Joe said that the biggest challenges over the years have been weeds, disease and pests, which have a direct impact on yield and quality.
"We’ve worked hard over a long time to find alternative methods of protecting the organic crops which don’t rely on pesticide use."
