Russia: 93 thousand tons of produce harvested by Lipetsk growers

The growers of the Russian Lipetsk region have collected over 93 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables since the beginning of the year. It exceeds the data of the same period of the last year, when 68.4 thousand tons were collected, by 36%.

The crop distribution is as follows: 53.6 thousand tons of cucumbers, 39.1 thousand tons of tomatoes, and 294 tons of eggplants.

“Today Lipetsk agricultural complex is an example of introducing innovations and effective management. The region has a tremendous agricultural potential. Our growers are well-known for their numerous success stories”, underlined the head of the region, Mr. Igor Artamonov.

The press service of Lipetsk regional government have announced that the region remains the leader in greenhouse vegetable production.

A greenhouse vegetable production cluster has shaped in the Lipetsk region, which includes a greenhouse construction factory, greenhouses themselves and a wholesale distribution center. Another 70 ha of greenhouses are planned to be constructed in the coming years. Thus, the overall production should reach 220 thousand tons”, noted the first deputy of the head of the region, Mr. Nikolay Tagintskev.
