Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a greenhouse fire at Por La Mar Nursery, Tuesday evening. At 7:15 p.m., fire crews received a report of a vegetation fire at 905 S. Patterson Ave.
Upon arriving, the call was upgraded to a structure fire as they discovered a greenhouse in a field was fully involved in fire. The structure contained a heavy plastic material that was causing thick, black, acrid smoke to be seen for miles. Crews began fighting the fire, secured a water source, and quickly knocked it down. There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation.
