'Christmas special'

Marks & Spencer offers half-a-tonne of Brussels sprouts for 40p

Many people couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Marks & Spencer was offering half a tonne of Brussels sprouts for just 40p. That amount of vegetables - the equivalent of 50,000 sprouts - would be enough to feed the entire British armed forces at Christmas.

Of course, the incredible Christmas deal was too good to be true. M&S bosses blamed it on a misprint.

An M&S spokesperson said: “We aim to deliver value, but clearly this is a misprint and we’re sorry for any confusion caused.” M&S confirmed a 500g bag of Brussels sprouts is available for 40p. The supermarket also advertises the Fresh Market Specials on their website which includes a 500g bag of sprouts.
