Spanish cooperative Vicasol inaugurates its new facilities in El Ejido

The first-degree Almeria-based cooperative Vicasol has recently inaugurated its new facilities in El Ejido, Vicasol 3. They are intended as a commercial and service area for its agricultural partners, their families and for the entire region. The event has been chaired by the Councilor of Agriculture of the Government of Andalusia, Carmen Crespo.

In 2019, Vicasol is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and coinciding with this milestone, the cooperative is opening its most technified facilities, which have required an investment of over 26 million Euro and which will generate 900 direct jobs.

Everyone at Vicasol 3 has dressed up for the occasion, welcoming more than 1,400 people, including the governing council of the cooperative, authorities, companies, institutions and media, in addition to the Vicasol family, partnered agricultural producers and workers.

After the ribbon cutting, there was a guided tour of the new facilities led by the president of the cooperative, Juan Antonio González. Then was the time for the institutional act with the presence of the Councilor of Agriculture and the mayor of El Ejido.

Both the Councilor of Agriculture and the mayor of the municipality have praised the cooperative's efforts and trajectory.

For his part, President Juan Antonio González thanked everyone present for their support in making this project a reality. “Vicasol 3 is a dream come true. Our goal is to improve the life of the producers, approaching our partners in the region and creating an infrastructure of services available to all residents in the area."

After the institutional act and the projection of the cooperative's new corporate video, there was also a gastronomic tasting of ’made by Vicasol' products.

A commercial and service area
Based in El Ejido, Vicasol 3 has the facilities of a packer, supplying store, gas station, car and truck washing center, supermarket (with more than 2,000 product references), restaurant and cafeteria, with a daily menu.

The new facilities of the first-grade cooperative house more than 125,000 square meters already urbanized, a packaging area intended to handle more than 100 million kilos of products, both conventional and organic. They also have 20,500 m³ of industrial cooling chambers, with specific cold rooms for organic fruit and vegetable products.

With the aim of improving the life of the producers, Vicasol seeks to facilitate the production and marketing in the municipalities of El Ejido, Adra, Dalías, Berja and Baja Alpujarra, among others. The idea is to let them get a greater profitability from their productions.

Vicasol already has 4 offices, located in Vícar, Níjar and El Ejido. Currently, Vicasol has about 1,000 agricultural partners and 2,500 workers, maintaining a constant growth trend over the past few years.
