Asia's largest single agricultural smart greenhouse is about to be harvested

As the largest modern greenhouse in Asia, Shandong Dezhou Smart Agriculture Industrial Park has been put into use. The 510,000 plants in the park will be harvested, and the output value will be estimated up to 500,000 yuan, in the one-year production period, which is 20 times that of traditional agricultural greenhouses.

In the Dezhou Smart Agriculture Industrial Park rows of tomato seedlings were planted in cocopeat, and the integrated water and fertilizer system transported nutrients to the seedlings through drippers. After nearly a month of growth, the tomato plants are starting to bear fruit.

The park covers an area of 53.67 hectares, with 4 greenhouses in total, of which the largest single area is more than 16.67 hectares. In addition, there are rainwater recycling pools, curtain systems, heating systems, water and fertilizer integration systems, electrical systems and other supporting equipment. It is currently the largest smart greenhouse park in Asia.

According to Yang Shuai, a staff member of the Smart Agriculture Industrial Park, the greenhouse uses the soilless cultivation method of hydroponics in gutters with cocopeat substrate instead of soil. Through this soil pollution is avoided.

Yang Shuai said that through the Internet of Things technology, the sensors can collect the environmental information in the greenhouse in real-time, such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and carbon dioxide distributed in the environment, which will be transmitted to the computer terminal via the wireless communication network, and judged through the background big data analysis. After that, the IoT platform can automatically adjust the specified environmental control equipment according to the manually set parameters, control the water spray, open the window, open the curtain, etc., to achieve precise control of watering, fertilizer application, temperature, humidity and so on. Through advanced technology, smart agricultural greenhouses can increase crop yields, increase efficiency and improve quality, and effectively avoid a series of problems such as soil compaction caused by excessive use of water and fertilizer, declining soil fertility, environmental degradation, and unsafety and insecurity of agricultural products.

“The individualized nutrients given to the seedlings through the environmental control system not only improve the land utilization rate but also produce high-yield, high-quality fruits through differential management.” Yang Shuai said the greenhouse uses diffuse glass, with a 91.5% light transmission rate, allowing plants to receive light more evenly while avoiding burns.

In order to ensure the health of the fruits, the fruits in the park adopt a combination of bumblebee pollination, physical control, and biological control to manage pests and diseases. At present, the greenhouse mainly produces 8 varieties of cherry tomatoes and 1 kind of radish.

After the estimation and actual planting, in the production season of the whole year, the output per unit area of the park is more than 5 times that of the traditional agricultural greenhouse, and the output value per hectare is 7.5 million RMB.
