The blockade of the A7 in La Junquera: "The impact has been similar to that of a road accident"

"There has been a total delay of 24 hours"

A production and marketing company from Almeria has had its fresh fruit and vegetable products blocked in La Junquera.

"Our trucks had to reach Perpignan and Paris, and have suffered delays of up to 24 hours. Our customers have been understanding, given the situation, and the quality of the products hasn't been affected by this delay," says our interlocutor.

"Today, retailers and supermarkets sometimes place orders at the last minute, when stocks are about to run out. The consequence then is that there is little room for delays," said the head.

"After all the logistical problems suffered this past year during the yellow vest protests in France, the current situation is looking more like an isolated incident without long-term consequences," he said.

An important Spanish transport company specialized in the fruit and vegetable sector also told us that "there is a lot of sensationalism in the way of dealing with the topic."

They say that the impact of the protests organized by Tsunami Democratic in La Junquera have not been greater than those of any traffic accident or weather adversity. "The way some media are reporting it, it looks like it will be a blow to exports. There are problems, but the truth is that we are not suffering more problems than we would have if there had been an accident or bad weather. But naturally, the separatist issue is a hot topic," he said.
