Myanmar: First international horti exhibition scheduled for 2020

Bringing the world of horticulture and floriculture to Myanmar will be the prime goal of the first edition of the international trade fair “Myanmar HortiFair”, scheduled for 2020 in Yangon, Myanmar. From Friday February 21 to Sunday February 23 a unique B2B platform for the fresh grown sector will be organized in Myanmar. The exhibition dates have been carefully chosen to allow growers to be able to visit the fair.

HPP International Exhibitions Group B.V. from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is the organizer of this new trade fair and will focus on Myanmar’s flower, plant, vegetable and fruit sectors, with the mission to bring together national growers and international buyers under one roof. The exhibition will be held in “Myanmar Expo”, located in Thaketa in Yangon, Myanmar. The venue has been chosen for its location in the city, for the quality of the hall itself and for the available facilities.

Promotion efforts will focus on attracting growers from Myanmar, but also growers from surrounding countries will be invited. Although growers are primarily targeted as visitors, the fair will be promoted to them also to exhibit. Since the exhibition is aiming to attract international buyers wanting to source and buy fresh cut flowers, plants, vegetables and fruits, the event is not only hoping to boost production, but as well exports from Myanmar to surrounding as well as other countries around the globe.

With a population of almost 55 million people and a surface of almost 700,000 km2, the sector is also expected to show further growth due to strong domestic demand. Overall Myanmar is a huge emerging market with great potential to become one of South East Asia’s largest producers and exporters of horticulture and floriculture products.

As part of the exhibition programme, a seminar conference will be held with topics in different fields of horticulture and floriculture, with the aim to accelerate the latest applications in horticultural technology. This will help to speed up growth of Myanmar’s horticulture and consequently lead to more and higher quality production.

Myanmar HortiFair will offer a place where growers, investors, traders, importers, exporters, governmental representatives and other sector-related professionals from Myanmar can meet with the international business community with whom they will need to work with.
