"Garden centers want black chalk, and the greenhouses get cleaned again."

Contractors live along with the weather forecast

When applying chalk, Dennis van Veldhoven prefers to do it on a sunny day, but the rain is more than welcome to help wash it off. Machine Contractor Van Veldhoven is currently working on removing the chalk they applied on the greenhouses at the beginning of the season. After spraying the chalk with a cleaning agent, either by hand or with machines, the rain will wash the greenhouses clean again.

Garden centers now want black chalk
The contractors live along with the weather forecast because while the white chalk is rinsed off the greenhouses, it also needs to be reapplied - but this time in black. “We have started chalking a variety of garden centers black to create the perfect atmosphere for the Christmas shows. For this particular situation, rain is not as useful,” says Dennis.

Crop rotation
Besides being busy with the chalk, the people at Van Veldhoven are also working on clearing the greenhouses that are to be used for the cultivation of tomatoes that use artificial lighting. The crop is being pulled from the greenhouse with specially designed machines and is then shredded. The mats made of rock wool are also being disposed of in a professional manner.
