New packaging machines to be presented at PPMA 2019

At PPMA 2019 the Packaging Automation team will be on hand to showcase the latest developments designed to deliver increased productivity, process efficiency and performance.

PA will present the high speed Revolution, a fast and environmentally friendly tray sealing machine featuring patented motion control technology to maximize the speed of the machine. Trays are fed continuously into the tray sealer without stopping meaning an increase in production speed and throughputs by up to 25%.

The machine operates without using any compressed air providing a greener solution and will be exhibited with a range of fully recyclable and compostable packaging solutions, all compatible with PA machinery.

The Revolution comes in twin lane format which benefits from an extended sealing bed and increased heater capacity to deliver more impressions per cycle and can provide an output of up to 250 packs per minute.

Also on display will be Rotofill, PA’s latest filling and closing machine which can run up to 3 lanes dependent on the pot size meaning that customers can triple their throughputs. Other specifications include the ability to cater easily to a myriad of customer specifications including single and multiple fills, wet and dry fills, reel fed film or pre-cut lid sealing, clip on lid over capping, tamper evident pots and date coding in whichever configuration is required.

The control system has programmable recipe control, self-diagnostics, and real time adjustment of all operating parameters including fill weights, seal time and film feed. Rotofill also features an integrated setup wizard that walks the operator through tool changes step-by-step, simplifying and deskilling the process.

This machine fits producers who want higher production speeds with space constraints and an option of gas flushing for MAP packaging. It can be used for a range of products including drinks, cream, yoghurts, sauces, dips, soups and liquid desserts, nuts, cereal, oats, powders and confectionery.

Lastly, on display will be PA’s weighing system MiWeigh, a factory efficiency weight management system designed to improve productivity and efficiency whilst minimizing product giveaway in pack houses and on product assembly lines. Multiple weigh scales on a single line are directly controlled through a central master screen that provides extensive live data providing full traceability and enabling customers to get a picture of the packing process and pin point any areas for improvement. Operator performance and product giveaway can be tracked through visual screens which show live performance to the operator whilst in production to measure against set KPIs. Batch reports are produced and automatically emailed at the end of each production run presenting operator performance, speed, giveaway and real-time costs.

With up time being so critical, this range of machines can be connected via a network to the internet allowing PA’s service team to dial in and monitor the operating status of the machine or diagnose component failure over the phone at any time, aiding quick recovery time.
