$3,000 donation for new high school greenhouse

Cargill, Inc. recently donated $3,000 toward the construction of a second greenhouse at Barren County High School.

Barren County Schools Superintendent Bo Matthews told the Glasgow Daily Times that the school district has been looking at making improvements to the BCHS agriculture department, and that includes building an additional greenhouse.

“There’s a whole business model that our ag classes have, and certainly they see that there’s a way to not only expand the space but add different varieties (of plants) and new opportunities that the space will provide them,” Matthews said, adding that they estimate a new greenhouse would cost around $80,000.
