After the blockade in 2017, Qatar
is keep giving top priority to food security and wants to boost local production, to increase self-sufficiency. Therefore the Qatari government is heavily investing in horticulture and agriculture to fulfil the needs in this sectors. The Kingdom of the Netherlands can offer suitable solutions when it comes to food security, as the Dutch have a centuries-old reputation for producing high-quality food with very efficient use of resources (water, energy).
The Ministry of Municipality & Environment in Qatar announced the opening of a funding box “ Qatar National Research Funds” for all food security projects. The Qatar National Research funding is currently offering many opportunities for financing different pilot studies and projects in food security area in Qatar. The priority will be given to finance different research and pilot studies that encouraging and focusing on food production in state of Qatar with protection of environment and natural resources that includes green houses projects ( especially production of fruits & vegetables) , dates production & fish farming.
