Chinese pepper prices rise again after brief drop

The prices of peppers in agricultural trade markets and vegetable stores in Changsha recently dropped, but that development was only temporary and prices are rising again. Traders explained that the supply of pepper on the Changsha market mostly comes from outside Hunan province. The pepper supply from Liuyang and Changsha is relatively small, but their price is still quite high. The prices of pepper-related products are also going up.

People in the industry stated that the current weather conditions, in particular excessive rainfall and cloudy skies, could impede pepper growth and distribution. The price is likely to continue the current upward trend. However, once pepper from Changsha enters the market in large volumes, the price will certainly come down.
