The process for the establishment of an organized greenhouse agricultural production zone in Aydin, a city located in southwestern Turkey, is coming to a successful end.
The project will take place in the Efeler district of Aydin and geothermal energy resources will be used in the zone. The zone will be around 70 hectares and the city officials are in the capital city Ankara, working with Ministry officials to finalize the legal framework and procedural issues for the zone. Officials note that there is a lot of interest from private companies to participate in the project.
The project was also mentioned in President Erdogan’s newly announced development programs and officials want to take advantage of the geothermal resources in Aydin.
In the first phase, production will focus on bananas and cut flowers, but later on other fruits and vegetables will be added to the production schedule.
