In 2013, 20 thousand tons of greenhouse produce have been grown, last year over 86 thousand tons, i.e. one third more than in 2017 in Stavropol. The region is the second one in Russia in terms of greenhouse vegetable production and is an absolute leader in growing tomatoes. Since the beginning of the year, the region's greenhouse complexes have grown over 9 thousand tons of produce, which is 7% more compared to the respective period of the past year.
Such dynamics have been reached partly due to the support of the local administration. “Subsidies and easy loans are significant stimuli for the modernization and the development of the sphere. Due to the support of the local government and state support the above measures are highly accessible for growers”, noted First Deputy Chairman of the regional government, Mr. Nikolay Velikdan.
“The overall amount of investment loans in the region have reached 167 million euros”, remarked Mr. Velikdan. “Greenhouse vegetable growing is one of the attractive areas for investments. In order to increase the share of Stavropol produce in the Russian greenhouse vegetable market as well as to increase the competitive advantage it is planned to double the production capacity of our complexes, so that the acreage reaches 378 ha.”
This will be done through launching new complexes. Among them are the second, third and fourth phases of LLC Solnechny Dar, LLC Agrocombinat Vostochny, LLC DOlina Solntsa, and LLC TK ECO-cultura. The overall acreage of the four objects will comprise 70 ha. The amount of investments in the regional projects will exceed 209 million euros.
For the time being the demand of the local population in greenhouse produce is fully met, each dweller receives on average 28 kilos of vegetables, or 220% of the recommended norm. Moreover, the produce is supplied to many regions in Central Russia.
