Insect netting discussed on first edition of Plant2019

Today in Valencia it's all about Plant, Cellular and Molecular biology. The first edition of the Plant2019 kicked off this morning. The conference wants to offer an international platform for botanists, academic scientists, young inspired researchers and research scholars to share their experiences and research results about all aspects of development in plant science. Obviously the horticultural industry is present.

Netting
Today Marcel Schulte with Holland Gaas gave a presentation about insect netting and greenhouse benefits. Marcel has mastered the ins and outs of netting solutions and invented together with his team some new netting systems for greenhouses. "Keeping plants healthy and pest-free without using chemical crop protection is an important topic", Marcel explains. "And there's more benefits: the diffuse light for example, as well as the protection against outside influences like dust, leaves and pollen, but also high wind and more aspects. This additional protection will lead to a better crop."

Amongst the discussed topics today also the application of greenhouses for sustainable food production and the role of peptides in the salinity stress tolerance of plants. The program will continue tomorrow with amongst others talks on seed priming and soil-to-plant transfer on seedlings.
