Belgium: Tomato prices on the rise

A strong increase in the leeks supply is expected to lower the prices. Last week's cold weather has passed. However, prices remain strong compared to the same period last year.

Compared to last week, tomato prices is going slightly up again. The national acreage of vine and loose tomatoes will remain fairly stable during the coming weeks. Some stable weeks for chicory as well. Production is still going according to plan. These are the weeks with greater supply, which translates into a fair price for the consumer. High demand for corn salad, but an insufficient supply causes an increase in prices.

Head lettuce became cheaper compared to last week. Due to the cold weather last week, less savoy cabbage was harvested, and thus prices slightly increased. Chinese, white and red cabbages were slightly cheaper. Normal supply of celeriac for this time of year, slightly decreasing prices compared to last week.
