DesertGrowing is a consortium consisting of Dutch and Saudi horticultural companies. Agroberichten Buitenland has shared some videos of the consortium concerning its initiatives in Saudi Arabia.
Al Blahad farm
Al Blahad Farm is a 8 ha high-tech greenhouse that grows various vegetables in the West of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This greenhouse is constructed by Prins Group and equipped with a Pad and Fan cooling system, boiler and irrigation system for the recirculation of water by Stolze. The screens are provided by Svensson and all systems are automated by the Hoogendoorn process computer.
Al Reyhana
Al Reyhana is a high-tech greenhouse that grows various vegetables in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia. They have an older 7 ha greenhouse and another 7 ha is new, constructed by Prins Group. The roof and walls are glazed with special diffuse glass. Stolze provided the installations for irrigation and cooling/heating. Furthermore, the greenhouse uses a boiler and the second generation pad and fan. All systems are monitored and controlled by Hoogendoorn’s automation.
