Gavita Holland and Transcend Lighting announced an exclusive partnership to launch a portfolio of LED lighting products for the horticulture lighting market. Gavita is developing and building retrofit T5 LED lamps in custom spectrums, based on Transcend’s light engine and phosphor technology.
The announcement signals Gavita’s move into LEDs. According to Scott Bogner, Director of Engineering at Gavita Holland, “Clearly, LEDs are playing an increasingly important role in the grow light market, and our partnership with Transcend Lighting will enable us to take a leadership position.” Mr. Bogner continued, “This is not our first LED product, we already have been producing state of the art LED solutions for our aquatics division. We started working with Transcend about a year ago and that partnership turned out to be a great success. We’re now ready to replicate those successes in horticulture.”
Transcend Lighting CEO, Brian Bennett, added, “We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Gavita. The combination of our technology with their expertise in product development and global market reach is a powerful force.”
The companies indicated that additional product specific announcements will be forthcoming as the LED product line is released during the coming months.
