US: Cultivate’16 kicks off celebrating the industry

Yesterday the exhibition of the Cultivate '16 conference kicked off in Columbus, Ohio. Walking around the show on the first day, we already noticed that the trend we saw over the last two editions of Cultivate, integrating more general horticultural supplies and technology for both edible and ornamental production, has definitely continued and elevated the trade show to the next level.

This year we had the pleasure to walk into even more suppliers of technology for edible hydroponic production. A lot of these exhibitors noticed that not only many ornamental growers who are in transition to or adding edible production are interested in their technology, but also a newer generation that is part of the burgeoning local food movement. As well as this, many professionals from the new medical marijuana industry are attracted to visit Cultivate to get in touch with professional knowledge and supplies on commercial greenhouse production.

Besides many short courses, speaker sessions, product launches and an extensive exhibition, Cultivate is also known as a platform to celebrate the industry. On Sunday night for example, in the presence of Dutch Ambassador to the U.S., Henne Schuwer, Aad Verbakel of Dutch greenhouse construction and heating specialists VB Group celebrated being in the horticulture business for 50 years.

On Thursday we will be back from Columbus with a complete photo recap!
