1,000 ton strawberry harvest in Moscow region

According to estimates, in the course of the current year around a thousand tons of strawberries will be harvested in the Moscow region. Farmers there plan to harvest around 15% more of the fruit than last year, reported the Minister of Agriculture of the Moscow Region Dmitry Stepanenko in an interview with the channel 360.

"Outside of the Moscow region strawberry fields have begun to mature." Last year, 844 tons of strawberries were produced and sold. Thanks to the new greenhouse investment project agro Ivanisovo, in the coming year the greenhouse complex will be able to grow strawberries on an area of 1 hectare. "There will be at least one thousand tons", stated Stepanenko.

These results can be reached by increasing the berry growing areas in existing companies such as State Farm Aktevskom and Nepetsino of the Kolomna district.

"The total area planted with berries in agricultural organizations and individual farms increased by 13,45 hectares over this year," added Stepanenko.
