Record breaking Dutch agri-exports

On Monday 6 June, the national statistics office CBS revealed that Dutch farmers exported produce worth €81.3bn last year, creating an all-time record. Including agricultural machinery, fertilisers and other essentials, total exports reached almost €90bn, the CBS said.

The Netherlands is second only to the US in terms of agricultural exports. Germany is third in the global ranking, followed by Brazil and France.

Flowers and plants were top of the list, accounting for €8.3bn of total agricultural exports. Meat (€7.6bn), dairy (€7.2bn) and vegetables (€6.3bn) also accounted for a large share.
