Koppert launches side effects app for tablets and smartphones

Koppert Biological Systems has modified its popular side effects database and developed it into an app for use on tablets and smartphones. In this way, it has joined the growing trend for sourcing information on small, mobile computers.

In 2015, Koppert took over the design of the side effects website and adapted it for tablets and smartphones. At the start of 2016, the company developed the much used database containing the side effects of chemical agents on natural enemies, and introduced new products at the same time. In the course of developing the new application (customer demands, architecture, design, user-friendliness), Koppert worked closely with a number of customer groups. This application can be accessed via the menu option, Side Effects, on the Koppert website.

The App has been added to the new application that can be accessed and downloaded via the Appstore and Playstore, as from June 2016. This means that the database can now be used when there is no internet connection. By issuing regular updates, the app will now remain up to date.

User-friendly
Easy access, especially in areas where the internet connection is slow or not present at all, means more convenience. The new application now works on both iOS and Android systems, and a Windows version may follow in the future.

Users will be able to search using the Latin names of beneficials or its trade name. Koppert is always working on the possibility of exporting the information to other programmes. Consultants and larger agricultural enterprises often prefer to have bigger overviews of beneficials, side effects, waiting periods and restrictions. They will be able to open these overviews in Excel, for example.

According to project manager, Markus Huurman, this will make the information more complete and give it a worldwide scope and added value. Huurman: ‘We hope that this new app will become a must-have for growers and consultants and that no one can work without it.’
