S. Russia to increase greenhouse veg production
In the Krasnodar region in Southern Russia there are plans to increase the production of greenhouse vegetables towards the end of the year.
New greenhouses on an area of 18.1 hectares will be built for growing cucumbers, tomatoes and leafy greens, reported RBK-South, in the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Processing Industry of the region. The area under greenhouses in the region by the end of the year should increase by 8.9% and reach 220 hectares.
According to the Agricultural Ministry forecast, with this amount of greenhouses they plan to collect 80,000 tons of vegetables, which is 14.3% more than in 2015
Major producers of greenhouse vegetables in the Krasnodar region are Zelenaya Liniya (83 ha of greenhouses), Ovoshi Krasnodarskogo kraya in the Belorechensk region (30.5 ha) and Teplichniy in Krasnodar (30.3 hectares).
