Monsanto again in talks with Syngenta

The Swiss pesticide maker Syngenta AG is again in merger talks with Monsanto Co., as well as other companies, according to a Swiss newspaper report.

In a recent interview, Syngenta Chairman Michel Demare confirmed for the newspaper Finanz und Wirtschaft that his company was in talks with both Monsanto and Chinese state chemical company ChemChina. “But not only these two,” he said, according to a translation of an article on Finanz und Wirtschaft’s website.

Demare added that no concrete offer is on the table. “We are in quite advanced, formal and intense negotiations,” he said. “Things are moving, it can always happen…”
