"US: MightyVine profiled as "Illinois Start Up To Watch"
Tomato grower MightyVine in Rochelle is on the list of Chicago Inno's '10 Illinois Startups To Watch Based Outside Of Chicago'. Since raising a $11 million round to build their first 7.5 acre hydroponic farm, they harvested their first batch of tomatoes in October and are currently supplying local Jewel grocery stores and Midwest Whole Foods. They also provide tomatoes to local restaurants including Ada St., Fat Rice, Frontera Grill, Lula Café, RPM Steak and RPM Italian, Swift and Sons, and others.
Next up they plan to further expand their farm after raising more funds, and eventually their aim is to supply 4.5 million pounds of tomatoes, 52 weeks a year.
In the presence of the Dutch Royal Couple, the contract for MightyVine's phase II was signed.
The construction of the 3 hectare greenhouse was completed in August. In June this year, in the presence of the Dutch Royal Couple, the contract for MightyVine's phase II was signed between VB Group, Royal Pride and MightyVine Tomatoes.
