US: EPA revokes registration from Dow AgroSciences herbicide

The Environmental Protection Agency has revoked the registration of Enlist Duo, a combination of glyphosate and 2,4-D created by Dow AgroSciences for the next generation of genetically engineered crops.

The EPA took court action to stop the use of Enlist Duo, after “realizing that the combination of these chemicals is likely significantly more harmful than it had initially believed,” according to a press release from Pesticide Action Network.

Enlist Duo was initially approved for use little over a year ago in several states and was intended to be used in additional areas in the near future. Dow AgroSciences has defended its use and said it will provide additional assurances about the protection of the environment.
