Tomato prices down 38.5% in Ukraine

The Ukrainian fresh produce price index has gone down by 1.9% in the week from November 7th to 13th, after a decrease of 0.1% a week before. As a result, a cumulative decline in the price index totaled just 2% over the past two weeks against a rise of 61.6% in the previous four weeks.

"Greenhouse cucumbers were the only fresh produce category which had become more expensive last week. Prices of other products either went down, or were stable," says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. "The sharpest decline in prices was registered in the tomato market: down by 38.5% week-on-week."

Prices of traditional vegetables have decreased for the third week in a row. At the same time, a slight rise in white cabbage prices should be noted; however, it was compensated by a further fall in prices of onions. Fruits became 2.6% less expensive thanks to lower prices of lemons and mandarins.
