Dutch grower replaces 20 year old packing line:

Greefa CombiSort sorts peppers on size and weight

Dutch pepper grower Duijndam from Pijnacker has recently started using a Greefa CombiSort. This new grading machine has been especially designed for grading bell peppers.

The rubber diabolos ensure that the peppers are properly singled out (and therefore are properly graded).

Duijndam is a real family business which has been run for over 35 years by sons Jan and Willem-Alexander and their father and mother. They really wanted to expand their existing (20 year old!) Greefa grading machine with a weighbridge for weighing the peppers. Eventually, they decided to buy a new machine. In collaboration with the family, Greefa developed the CombiSort for grading peppers on size and weight.

Full of pride next to their new Greefa pepper grader

For some time now, the pepper world has switched from size to weight grading. It is becoming more common for peppers to be packaged and sold individually or with a few items. The measured weight is then shown on the packaging.

This grader is provided with a means of singling-out, which has been developed for peppers. The rubber diabolos ensure that the peppers are well singled-out and therefore can be properly graded. The capacity of the grading line is nearly 5.5 tonnes / hour.

The peppers are semi-automatically put in boxes. This saves a lot of labour and is ergonomic.
