Great success of cheap, ugly fresh produce France

The French campaign launched last year, supporting the consumption and sale of so-called "ugly" fruits and vegetables, has yielded excellent results, reports FAMMU/FAPA.

The products included in this category are those with an unusual or ugly appearance, which cannot be sold as first class. In France, they are sold in a number of retail chains with discounts of up to 30 percent. Since the launch of the campaign, more than 10 thousand tonnes of such products have been sold.

Interestingly, the campaign has also included other products, such as dairy products with a short expiry date, like cheese and yoghurt, which are sold already for half the original price.

In the near future, the campaign is also expected to be extended to fish, bakery and meat products.
