land available for 100 hectares
Citronex to become Poland’s largest greenhouse producer
Bananas are currently the main business for Citronex Group, with the segment's turnover representing 50 percent of the firm's total revenue. Currently Citronex co-owns banana plantations in Ecuador and owns one of the largest modern banana ripening rooms in Europe, located in Zgorzelec. Citronex also plans to expand its ripening capacity and it does additionally not discard further investments in processing. For now, a banana jam has already been launched.
In addition to the creation of this banana empire, Citronex is also one of the fastest expanding companies in Europe's greenhouse tomato sector.
Currently, the company has 10 hectares of greenhouses in Bogatynia, and in 2016 it will kick off the construction of the next dozen. The land which the company owns in Bogatynia will allow it to build a total of 100 hectares of greenhouses.
In terms of volume, the company is set to become a leader in the production of greenhouse vegetables in Poland, and it expects to achieve this goal by the end of 2015. According to Vice President Rafal Zarzecki, "we produce about 25 thousand tonnes of tomatoes and supply 3-4 percent of the tomatoes consumed in Poland."
