'One problem with the cultivation of our snack tomatoes in the winter and the spring is that the plant often focuses too much energy on the head of the plant and the foliage, and too little on the fruits. We just aren't getting enough sugars in the fruits,' says Mark van der Werf, location manager at Greenco. 'Last year, we compared an untreated crop with a treated crop in two greenhouses. The difference was very clear: the production level of the treated crop was eight per cent greater than that of the untreated crop. That higher productivity could not be explained by any other factor than the treatment with ProParva. Moreover, the Brix value of the treated crop was 1.5 points higher.
'Since then, Greenco has used ProParva to stimulate the plants' generative growing habit. 'ProParva is now a steering product for us: a little more generative growth, and a little less foliage mass,' explains Mark van der Werf.
