Philips demerger approved by shareholders

Not just the top executives, but also the company's shareholders support the privatization of the company’s lighting division. Also Horticulture falls under this branch.

What exactly is going to change at Philips? Last year, it was announced that the company will focus on health technology and consumer lifestyle. The lighting division of the company is to be privatized. The shareholders approved the plans at a meeting earlier this week. The lighting company will be located in the Netherlands and will get a head office in Eindhoven.

Horticulture
The horticultural branch remains part of Philips Lighting. Nothing changes within Horti LED Solutions. The purchasing of LED lamps, which involves various suppliers, will continue as usual.

Earlier this year it was announced that the LED components branch of the company, together with the Automotive lighting branch, was sold to a Chinese investor. This branch has nothing to do with LED solutions for horticulture, as it supplied LED components to the automotive industry.
