XL Horticulture get a grip on Spanish Tunnels with new rope
XL Horticulture have introduced a new polysteel rope for sheeting down on high/spanish tunnels and have named it “Tiger Rope”. One of the problems that growers using high/spanish tunnels have is knowing how old their rope is. High winds can break old rope leading to severe damage of the polythene covers, and considerable expense.
“Tiger Rope” is no more expensive than other polysteel ropes but has a stripe in it which will enable growers to date the rope and gives an easy to see visual guide as to the age of the rope. For all of 2015 the stripe is a buff colour. For all of 2016 it will be a different colour, and so on each year, allowing the grower to make an informed decision on whether to protect his crop with new rope, rather than a guess and a gamble.
Along with the Tiger Rope XL have also introduced a new tool to make tensioning the rope easier and more efficient. Managing Director Les Lane is a sailing fan and developed the new “EazyGrip rope puller” along the same lines as the “V grip” rope cleats that are used to secure ropes on sailing boats. It fits snugly in the palm of a hand and grips the rope, without the rope cutting into the users hands.
It’s suitable for both left and right handed users and is quicker and easier to use than the existing rope grippers. It doesn’t damage the rope, and at just £7.50 it’s also a considerable cost saving.
