US (MI): Van Thomme's Greenhouses open despite massive fire

Despite a fire that sent plumes of thick smoke into the air on Friday, Van Thomme’s Greenhouses in Chesterfield Township is open for business and fully stocked with spring plants and Easter flowers.

That’s the word from Debra Van Thomme, one of the co-owners of the family-run business on 23 Mile Road east of Interstate 94.

“We only lost a small part of one greenhouse and part of our supply barn, but we are open -- there are customers all over the place,” she said on Saturday afternoon.
