Just as the lightbulb turned night into day and the development of the Leica camera made photography available for everyone, LED technology and vertical plant systems make it possible to grow your own fresh lettuce, fresh herbs, and hopefully also soon strawberries, in any space both within and on your own four walls.
Using the BOHO-System, the selected plant twine is simply suspended and the system started. After that you can just marvel and enjoy. The growing plants ensure delightful and attractive surroundings. "Visit us at Ambiente (Hall 8, Stand M88) and let yourself be inspired."
Crowdfunding project for further research
To promote the development of the 'green' product line, a crowdfunding project is being launched on the www.indiegogo.com platform in parallel with the trade fair appearance. Here you can find the project: www.indiegogo.com/projects/boho-botanic-horizon/x/9117712By participating in this crowdfunding initiative you are contributing towards the development of the greater vision of green cities and making it possible for enthusiastic, up-and-coming BOHO researchers to be welcomed permanently on to the project.
The Erzgebirge (Ore Mountain) company B + M Textil GmbH based in Sehmatal, Germany is currently exploring whole new avenues with its 'hanging gardens'. BOHO – BOTANIC HORIZON will open up broad fields of application and reach, in the truest sense of the word, new botanical horizons. The secret: a semitransparent, vertical seed and plant twine system, that combines textile tubes with modern gardening. It is highly efficient in its use of materials and has many possible uses. In addition to grass, herbs, vegetables, and green leaf and flowering plants can all potentially be grown vertically. The 'hanging gardens' also help with air purification and humidification. This opens up uses that include the vertical greening of interiors, balconies, terraces and facades, through the architectural, commercial or private designing of green or flowering walls. The system is also extremely well suited to creating oases of wellbeing or vertical gardens for urban gardening in the smallest of spaces. In addition, the company sees greenery for households, business and events as having positive consequences for the living and urban climate, through dust and pollutant absorption, heat insulation, cooling and noise prevention.
The new system was developed over a period of nine months, exclusively with regional partners, such as the NELILUX company from Annaberg-Buchholz. In just a few days time B + M Textil GmbH will be presenting its BOTANIC HORIZON project at the AMBIENTE, the world’s most important consumer goods trade fair.
From 13-17 February 2015 the fully automated BOHO vertical greening system will be presented in Hall 8.0 at Stand M 88. It is constructed from 100% stainless steel. Its design ensures the maximum possible planted area within the smallest possible space. Individual light colours, along with their intensity, lighting duration and irrigation intervals can, for instance, all be controlled to the second.
There are also appropriate integrated level sensors. The fully automated complete system constructed from 100% stainless steel can be fitted with either seed or plant twine and used for the purposes described above. It will be available from summer 2015.
