Price of greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine has reached an absolute maximum in the monitoring history of APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruit. Moreover, the experts emphasize that the Ukrainian factories continue to raise the price of the products.
Thus, for the last week the greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine have gone up in price by an average of 15%. Today, farmers sell these products at 1.16 - 1.24 dollars per kg, which is 30% higher than in October last year. It should be added that the current price of greenhouse tomatoes in the Ukrainian market is 50% higher than the average for the last five years.
This price situation is explained by the end of greenhouse sales season that has led to a significant reduction in supply. Besides, relatively small supplies of imported tomato have also contributed to the price rise. Due to the devaluation of the hryvnya the minimum price of imported tomatoes in Ukraine is 1.47-1.57 dollars per kg, which most consumers can not afford.
