Kompany:

"Netherlands: "Bad weather keeps cucumber market on a reasonable level"

The cucumber market has been quite unstable lately. "Sometimes the prices will peak a little, but the market will be at a lower level just a few days later. The growers have really been affected by the bad prices." says Kompany. "Due to the bad weather conditions productions have been mediocre and this has been keeping the market on a reasonable level."

Cucumber growers at Kompany are entering the autumn tomato cultivation with a collective area of 60 hectares. This is a comparable area to last year. "It seems like the Spanish plantation in the autumn is a lot less and this gives us hope for acceptable prices in the Netherlands."
