Mexico: Netherlands embassy representative visits Congreso Internacional del Tomate 2014
From Wednesday June 18th to Friday June 20th 2014 the Congreso Internacional del Tomate 2014, the international tomato congress took place in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The representative of the agriculture department of the embassy Frank Hoogendoorn visited the congress.
The objective of the congress is to inform people who work in the tomato sector, and to have a look at existing inputs, technologies and services for growers. The program of the congress gave an insight in the current and future conditions in the sector in Mexico and offered lots of opportunities to network.
Apart from the presentations which were given, there was an exhibition area where about 60 companies with different services, such as substrates, greenhouse construction, biological control etc., had a stand.
From The Netherlands the companies Hoogendoorn, Jiffy, and the cluster MexiCultura were present. On Friday afternoon the option existed to attend one of the three workshops which were offered.
It seems that next year´s congress will take place somewhere else in Mexico. The congress might return to the ´el Bajio’ region.
