UAE: New greenhouse research centre for Abu Dhabi

Bosman - van Zaal in cooperation with their partner Al Busath in United Arab Emirates have been awarded by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority the contract to execute an advanced greenhouse research centre in Abu Dhabi. The aim of the centre is research, demonstration and training, with special attention to water and energy saving technology.



The centre design and specifications was developed by Wageningen UR. The centre consists of seven compartments plastic and glasshouse; demonstrating three levels of greenhouse technologies; low, medium and high-tech. Different technologies will be installed in the centre such as special evaporative cooling, mechanical cooling, electric boiler and heat pump with all related axillary systems. Also different methods of growing will be adapted from soil to substrate growing with related hydroponics systems. The glasshouse will be covered by standard glass as well as diffuse glass in order to conduct different experiments on different crops. Three of the compartments applying closed greenhouse system.

Al Busath is a well-known company in U.A.E. specialized in horticultural projects for more than 30 years. The combined strength of Bosman-van Zaal with their partner Al Busath was represented in joint efforts and close cooperation of technical engineers and specialists from all companies led by Mr. Hicham Al Sadat from Al Busath and Mr. Rami Alsouqi from Bosman-van Zaal.
The contract was awarded on 29 May 2014. Bosman-van Zaal and Al Busath started directly all engineering process and site preparation will commence very soon.
