Completely containerised cogeneration plant by GE Power & Water

GE Power & Water’s Distributed Power has developed a completely new integrated concept for the horticulture market. This innovative concept is known as “Containerised Greenhouse” and consists of a completely containerised cogeneration plant including flue gas cleaning, heat recovery and urea and oil storage.

3-D impression of a “Containerised Greenhouse”

The containerised system consists of 4 interlinked steel custom-built containers which are mounted on a simple base. The first container contains the generator set/engine, the second contained contains the flue gas cleaner, the third container is where heat is recovered using the installed flue gas cooler and condenser and the fourth contains both the electrical system and the urea and oil storage tank. The system is fully assembled in the Netherlands. The containers can be simply and quickly linked together and connected up on the end-customer’s premises, thereby minimising construction time on site.

The modular structure of the system makes it easy to incorporate project-specific requirements such as flue gas bypass systems, plant coolers, etc. Optional extras for sites in more extreme conditions, e.g. in a cold climate or in an earthquake zone, can also be supplied. The compact construction means that the containers can be transported by both land and sea.

The benefits at a glance:
  • Fast delivery time
  • Short construction time on the project site
  • Simple base
  • Quick to install and remove
  • Concept tested for horticultural use
