How to protect retractable roof greenhouses from insects

Although the idea of using retractable roofs seems logical to many producers, many are concerned about how to protect the crops against insects when the roof is open. Growers wishing to stop insects typically fall into two groups:

- Those who need to install netting, as they are propagating plants, producing parent plants, cuttings or non-resistant plant seedlings.

- Those who wish to install anti-insect nettings because they have suffered significant losses or viral issues with conventional greenhouses or open ground crops, especially when growing non-resistant varieties.

With retractable roofs, there are now options for those who need nettings or who prefer to produce in a protected environment. As soon as producers decide what kind of netting they want for their retractable roof, they can choose between fixed or retractable nettings. The latter is ideal for locations where the incidence of insects is seasonal: highest in summer and lowest in winter. In locations where insects should be excluded throughout the year, the right choice is fixed netting.

The following is a short video about anti-insect nettings for retractable roofs.
