"Clients are enthusiastic about our basil from Genoa, which has pulpy leaves, a deep green colour and exceptional perfume. I am very happy with what we have achieved, even though the weather was not so good. We have produced over 300 tons of basil since September. The demand of mint reached 40 tons, but it should increase in summer also thanks to popular drinks like the mojito."
Autore plants are available on the market throughout the year, as "we have introduced new techniques that enable us to produce in any kind of weather."
The Sicilian company mainly works with the domestic market, but also exports its products to Romania, Greece, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. "We are not affected by competition from abroad, not even from Spain, because our prices and quality are the best. Plants from Israel can also be found on the market, as well as those from Egypt, Kenya and Ethiopia."
"Prices hover between €6 and 7/kg in winter, whereas in summer they vary between €3.50 and 4/kg. They are €0.50 more in Germany, Netherlands, Greece, Romania and Belgium."
