Spain: Naturplás and Polivouga merge to push greenhouse agriculture forward

After three years working together as strategic partners, the Almerian company Naturplás Plásticos Agrícolas SL, specialised in the production of plastics for agriculture, is merging with the Portuguese group Polivouga, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of flexible technical packaging solutions for the food industry, as well as a wide range of agricultural plastic films, developing high-end products under responsible manufacturing policies and meeting long-term social and environmental sustainability requirements.

Naturplás and Grupo Polivouga reach a combined turnover of more than 180 million Euro and employ around 500 people, 50 of which are specialists in the development of plastic products for agriculture, while the rest are devoted to the manufacture of products for other sectors, including construction, business and services.

The strategy of the new company will focus on investing in high-end technology and in developing new products and solutions to strengthen its position in the market. Therefore, it will use the latest multilayer equipment, prime quality raw goods and additive packages, as well as laboratories devoted to continuous research and innovation. It will also be open to consumer suggestions.

The group recently invested 40 million Euro in a new factory. This new unit will be devoted to the manufacture of bi-oriented polypropylene and will start operating in 2015.

The new brand resulting from the merger, Naturplás Grupo Polivouga, aims to become a symbol of quality, experience and proximity to customers.
