"Q4 White: “A perfect solution for energy screens"

In the cultivation of Kalanchoes, light plays an important role. More light makes the growing time shorter, but too much sunlight causes damage. Pietro van Genderen of Kalanchoes nursery GP Powerplants has several years of experience with Q4 White coating. He calls the chalk agent a perfect solution for his particular growing process.

GP Powerplants’ existing screening did not prove effective in summer months, as the limited coating led to discolourations in crops and unwanted peaks in the growth cycle. So now, each spring the greenhouses are being treated with Q4 White. The propagation department receives a screening percentage of 60%, while post-propagation receives 45%. By diluting the agent, various percentages can be reached.

Probably the biggest benefit of Q4 White is that it can be applied in one turn, as well as being removed in one go. Pietro van Genderen: “For us it is important that the chalk coating will last us through the season. Removing it should also be quick and easy. Q4 White really lives up to these conditions.” For the removal of Q4 White, Removit is used at the end of the summer, by affixing it to the roof, mechanically or manually. Q4 White then quickly dissolves and disappears.
