The collaboration between Plantenkwekerij Vreugdenhil and VB Group will get a follow-up. The two companies recently reached an agreement on the expansion of 3 hectares and the development of a greenhouse climate system. The new project is a continuation of the 5 hectare project realized in 2012 in De Lier. By extending the nursery, Vreugdenhil can meet the increasing demand for vegetables and flowering plants.
The project will start immediately. "At present, the foundation is already being measured and the trusses are welded at Duijnisveld in Poeldijk,” says CEO Michel Winkel of VB Group. He is responsible for the construction of the entire greenhouse complex. The expansion fits into the company’s strategy to continue on as a greenhouse builder. "Despite the steep decline in demand, it is important that we have recent references in the Netherlands. Not merely for the Dutch market, but also for foreign clients who visit us," says Edward Verbakel of VB Group.
The expansion of Plantenkwekerij Vreugdenhil is intended to increase the quality of the plants, in order to optimize efficiency and to further centralize propagation. Existing hygiene protocols are updated by keeping production flows, routing and water strictly separated.
The new site is to become operational late this year.
