France: Strawberry, tomato and cucumber prices decrease

According to Relaxnews, French consumers will be able to enjoy strawberries at a lower price thanks to imported varieties reaching the shelves (24% price decrease to €3.39 compared to €4.51/kilo last year).

Despite a 13% increase to €1.60/kg, banana price remains lower than in 2013.

Mild weather has enabled strawberries to be be on the shelves at €3.39/kg. Tomatoes are another fruit that benefit from the sun and are at €3.48/kilo this week (-10%). Cucumber price drops 8% to €1.02/per cucumber.

The Relaxnews price barometer is made every Wednesday using information from the Market News Service, under the Ministry of Agriculture. Every week 20 or so SNM employees record the retail prices of 150 products (fruit, vegetable, meat, fish…) in 150 medium and large supermarkets all over France (a representative sample of household consumption in France, conducted by Sofres).
