Call for logo to defend French horticulture

Stéphane Le Foll, Minister of Agriculture, would like to see a logo ''Fleur de France'' applied in order to support French horticulture, which is bearing the brunt of competition from Kenya and Holland.

''I am going to ask FranceAgrimer to launch a project to set up ''Fleur de France'', with specific requirements. I would like us to have, like with French meat, a genuine approach,'' the Minister told the AFP on Friday whilst on a business trip to the Var, a horticultural region.

Today, 85% of flowers and plants consumed in France come from abroad, Holland, and also Kenya and South America. Faced with this strong competition, French production has been in a steady decline.
