"It's a very nice piece of property and a good fit for us," Gerten said. "It's strictly a growing range for us. It's laid out in a very clean, clear production pattern."
The sale, finalized this week, comes less than four months after Linder's said it would shut down its 102-year-old company - a casualty of lingering effects of the recent recession and a lousy spring. "I can't really say we're going to benefit from Linder's not being around," he said. "We've picked up some new commercial sales already, I guess. But we're not aggressively pursuing their customers."
The Lake Elmo site will be ready for growing within 30 days."It's primarily additional greenhouse space," Gerten said. "We can always use it."
