Belgium: Good experience growing tomatoes in coco propagation blocks

Ben Nuyens is a tomato grower in Belgium. This year he started to grow his tomatoes in a pot of cocopeat, which suits him well. Ben already used a coco slab and now combines this with the coco pot. "The major advantage is thats lab and pot don't have to 'fight' for water anymore," Ben Nuyens says.

Nuyens: "I'm using the pots of Forteco. These have a homogeneous composition, with the result that the plant is very well controllable. The other advantage is that the pot an the mat can be easily discharged, because they're made of the same material."

The grower was already used to a coco slab. The influence of the pot is only noticeable in the first bunches. "When the fist bunch is well generative, the plant will provide beautiful fruits."

Nuyens grows on 13 ha, lighted and unlighted. The varieties he grows are Sunstream, Rivolo and Merlice.
